The Bani Malik Tribe

Location: Southern Taif Region, Hijaz, Western Saudi Arabia

To the south of Bani Saʿad territory lies the homeland of the Bani Malik tribe. Their cultural identity is expressed not only through clothing but also in the distinctive decorative stonework of their architecture, which is characteristic of the southern Hijaz region.

As with the dresses worn by Bani Saʿad women, Bani Malik garments are cut in a straight, simple silhouette. However, they are distinguished by the predominance of vibrant yellow embroidery, which sets them apart from neighbouring styles. The embroidery is given added texture and dimension through the use of small glass beads interspersed with bright red knots.

Sleeves are intentionally kept short to showcase silver bracelets — an important element of festive and everyday adornment.
