The Hudheyl tribe

Location: Taif, Hijaz, Western Region

The noble tribe of Hudheyl lives in the Taif area. Hudheyl costumes are made of tie-dyed muslin applied in different patterns.

The highland homesteads of the Hudhail are scattered in hamlets of four or five and are built of stone and mud.

The rugged Hijaz mountains boast a rich and varied flora.

Each style of Hudheyl dress has its own specific name as well as its own accompanying headdress.

Hudheyl musadah thobe has an overall pattern covering the entire length and width of the garment. The Hudheyl tribal women wear these costumes tucked in at the waist to show the embroidered cuffs of the underpants.
